TRAN B. NGUYEN

Tran B. Nguyen has served as our Chief Strategy Officer since September 2021 and as Chief Financial Officer since 2013. He served as Chief Operating Officer from June 2018 to September 2021. He has over 25 years of finance experience in the biotechnology, banking, and private equity industries. Prior to joining Prothena in 2013, Mr. Nguyen was the Chief Financial Officer at Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from 2010 until its sale in 2013. He was the Chief Financial Officer at Metabasis Therapeutics, Inc. from 2009 until its sale in 2010. From 2007 to 2009, he was a Vice President in the Healthcare Investment Banking group at Citi Global Markets, Inc., and from 2004 to 2007 he served in various capacities as a healthcare investment banker at Lehman Brothers, Inc. He earned his B.A. in Economics and Psychology from Claremont McKenna College and his M.B.A. from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles.
